Membership
Two cards, one federation
Adult memberships are $50 per year. High School and Youth membership cards are $25 per year, and you must be age 18 or under to qualify for one.
After submitting the application, your payment must be received within 7 days or the application is considered invalid. Once you hold a card, it must be active on the contest date of any meet you enter — and you may be asked to show it at weigh-in.
That is the whole of it. One application, one annual fee, and every sanctioned platform, record board and division the federation runs is open to you.

Questions?
The federation answers its own email
Membership, meet sanctioning, referee certification, record certificates — one address reaches the office for all of it, and record certificates are ordered by email in the first place. If a phone call is easier, the number below rings the federation directly.

Referee training, free for any adult
The APA referee training and certification course is free and open to anyone age 18 and older — lifter, coach, or parent at the rail.
The course is built on the published WPA and APA rulebook, so what you learn is the standard the platform actually runs on. Certified referees support sanctioned meets nationwide — and lifters who learn the rules from the officials’ side walk onto the platform sharper for it.
What the course covers
- Officials' duties on a sanctioned platform
- Judging standards for every recognised lift
- Equipment checks and weigh-in procedure
- Platform safety, from spotters to loading
Hosted on apa-wpa.com, the federation’s programme site. Certification questions: apapowerlifting@gmail.com
